PROOX is partnering the Austrian contribution to the 16th International Exhibition of Architecture in Venice.

Under trustee Verena Konrad - commissioner of the Austrian contingent to the 2018 architectural biennial - three design teams will be developing a room installation of three interlinked parts. The room installations which in part merge into one another materialize or visualize concepts such as "divergence", "atmosphere" and "beauty".

LAAC | Innsbruck (Kathrin Aste and Frank Ludin) approach the free space in the form of a spatial divergence. A circular area is inscribed in the pavilion and through the curvature of this area a sphere transcending space and time is revealed on the surface of the segment. The reflections of the sphere depict complex three-dimensional relationships.

With a walkin wooden construction and space of light, Henke Schreieck Architects | Vienna create two diverging atmospheres in two identical rooms; open and closed, stable and fragile, rational and expressive, light and dark, east and west, all meet in the form of diverging spatial qualities.

The third contribution designed by Stefan Sagmeister and Jessica Walsh | New York, poses questions concerning the aesthetic aspirations which architecture must have and the necessity for beautiful things in everyday life.
